Versus Privacy Policy
Versus · Raedacon Labs (Pty) Ltd
Version: 2.1.0
Last Updated: 30 September 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Raedacon Labs (Pty) Ltd ("Raedacon Labs", "we", "us") collects, uses, shares and protects personal information when you use the Versus mobile app ("Versus" or "the App"). It applies only to Versus. Our company website has its own policy.
We process personal information in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA) of South Africa and, where they apply to you, other privacy laws such as the GDPR.
1. Who is responsible for your information
Raedacon Labs (Pty) Ltd
Registration number 2026/010100/07, Republic of South Africa
Address: Durbanville, Cape Town, 7550
Email: support@raedaconlabs.com
2. Information we collect
2.1 Information you give us
- Account details. If you sign in with email: your email address and password (the password is stored securely by Google Firebase, never by us in readable form). If you sign in with Google: your name, email address and profile photo link from your Google account.
- Username and avatar. The display name you choose and the settings for your generated avatar.
- Your activity. Votes (including Power Votes), comments, replies and likes, comparison suggestions (title, options and descriptions), up and down votes on suggestions, and the comparisons you skip.
- Reports. When you report content: the reason and any description you add.
- Support requests. When you send a bug report or feedback: your username, email address, the category and your message. Bug reports also include your device model, manufacturer and operating system version, and details of the App's most recent errors on your device (the error code, the time and a technical description; at most the last 10).
- Preferences. Notification topics you choose and when you accepted our terms.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Account and activity data: your user ID, vote, comment, suggestion and win counts, XP, level, achievements, daily vote and suggestion limits, and in-app messages sent to you.
- Device identifier: an identifier for your device, used to give each device one guest account and to stop banned users from returning.
- Moderation data: if text you submit breaks our content rules, the blocked text, the type of violation, and any warnings, suspensions or bans.
- Purchase data: which products you bought, your subscription status and renewal dates. Payment details are handled by Google Play; we never see your card details.
- Notification token: a token from Firebase Cloud Messaging that lets your device receive notifications for the topics you choose.
- App integrity signals: Google Play Integrity checks that requests come from a genuine copy of the App on a genuine device.
- Advertising data (free accounts): Google AdMob collects your device's advertising ID, app set ID, IP address, ad interactions and diagnostic information. You can reset or delete your advertising ID in your Android settings.
- Technical data: our servers keep short-term logs of requests (such as your user ID and the time of the request) to run and troubleshoot the service. Loading the App's fonts sends your IP address to Google Fonts. When something goes wrong, the App shows you an error code and keeps a technical description of the error on your device. It leaves your device only if you send a bug report.
We do not use analytics or crash-reporting services, and we do not collect your precise location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone.

Providing an email address or Google account is needed for a full account. You can use Versus as a guest without one, with lower limits.
4. What other users can see
- Your username, avatar and leaderboard statistics (votes, suggestions and wins), unless you are a guest, have no username, or are an administrator.
- Your comments and your approved suggestions, shown with your username.
Your email address is never shown to other users. Votes are only shown as totals.
5. Who we share information with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with service providers that help us run Versus, and only for the purposes above:
| Provider | What they receive | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Google Firebase (Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage, Cloud Messaging, App Check) | The information in section 2 that we store | Hosting our database and servers, sign-in, notifications, app integrity |
| Google Sign-In | Your Google account sign-in | Signing in with Google |
| Google Play (Billing) | Your purchases | Taking payments and managing subscriptions |
| RevenueCat, Inc. | Your user ID and purchase history | Confirming purchases and subscription status |
| Google AdMob | Advertising data (section 2.2) | Showing ads to free accounts |
| Google Gemini API | Suggestion title, options and descriptions | Generating images for suggestions an administrator approves |
| GitHub, Inc. | Your support request: username, email address, user ID, device model and operating system, recent error details (bug reports) and message | Tracking and resolving support requests in a private repository |
| Google Fonts | Your IP address | Delivering fonts |
Each provider handles data under its own privacy policy:
Google ·
Firebase ·
RevenueCat ·
GitHub
We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to enforce our Terms, or to protect the safety of users or the public. If Raedacon Labs or Versus is sold or merged, information may transfer to the new owner under this policy, and we will tell you first.
6. Where your information is stored
Our database and servers are provided by Google in the United States. RevenueCat and GitHub are also based in the United States. This means your information is transferred outside South Africa. We use providers that apply recognised safeguards to protect personal information, as POPIA requires for cross-border transfers.
7. How long we keep information
- While your account exists, we keep your account and activity information.
- When you delete your account (see section 9), we immediately delete or de-identify it:
- deleted: your account and sign-in, profile, email address, votes, likes, XP, level, achievements, skipped comparisons, messages, and suggestions that were not approved
- kept without your name: approved suggestions (shown as "Deleted user"), your comments (hidden, with their text removed), and reports you made
- support requests are kept with your name and email address removed
- Moderation records (blocked content, warnings, suspensions, bans and banned device identifiers) are kept for 24 months after your account is deleted, so that deleting an account cannot be used to escape a ban. They are then deleted automatically.
- Purchase records held by Google Play and RevenueCat are kept under their own policies and to meet tax and accounting obligations.
- Server logs are kept for a short period and then deleted automatically.
- Guest accounts are kept until they are deleted.
8. Your rights
You have the right to:
- access the personal information we hold about you;
- correct inaccurate information (you can change your username and avatar in the App);
- delete your account and information (section 9);
- object to processing based on our legitimate interests, and withdraw consent where we rely on it (for example, turn off notifications in the App);
- complain to a privacy regulator.
To exercise a right, email support@raedaconlabs.com from the email address on your account. We respond within 30 days.
If you are in South Africa, you can complain to the Information Regulator:
inforegulator.org.za · enquiries@inforegulator.org.za · 010 023 5200. If you are in the EU or UK, you can complain to your local data protection authority.
9. Deleting your account
In the App: email and Google accounts open Account → Profile → Delete Account, confirm, and sign in again when asked. Guests open Account → Delete Guest Account and confirm, on the device the guest account was created on. Deletion happens immediately.
Without the App: email support@raedaconlabs.com with the subject "Delete my Versus account". Send it from the email address on your account; for a guest account we will reply asking for details that let us find it. We complete the request within 30 days.
Deleting your account does not cancel a Premium subscription. Cancel it first in your Google Play subscriptions, which the Manage Subscription button in the App opens for you.
10. Age requirement
Versus is for adults aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe someone under 18 is using Versus, contact us and we will delete the account.
11. Security
Information is encrypted in transit, stored with Google Firebase, and protected by access rules, administrator-only tools and app integrity checks. No system is completely secure; if a security compromise affects your personal information, we will notify you and the Information Regulator as POPIA requires.
12. Changes to this policy
When we make material changes we will update the "Last Updated" date and ask you to review them in the App. The current version is always available in the App and at
https://www.raedaconlabs.com/apps/versus/privacy-policy.
